Uttarakhand Receives National Award for TB Eradication Efforts

Dehradun – Uttarakhand has been honored with a prestigious national award by the Government of India for its outstanding community-based efforts under the “TB Mukt Panchayat Abhiyan.” The award was presented at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on World Tuberculosis (TB) Day.

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, presented the award to Swati S. Bhadauria, Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM), Uttarakhand. This recognition highlights the state’s commitment to eliminating TB.

Uttarakhand’s Successful Strategy for TB Eradication

The event was attended by the Union Health Secretary, ICMR Director General, NHM Mission Directors from various states, and senior officials from the Central TB Division. The award has further boosted the morale of Uttarakhand’s health workers engaged in TB elimination.

Mission Director Swati S. Bhadauria credited the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat for the effective implementation of the TB elimination program. Under the “TB Mukt Panchayat Abhiyan,” the state ensured extensive awareness, early detection, quality treatment, and active community participation.

Additionally, the “Nikshay Mitra Yojana” connected private organizations, public representatives, and social workers to provide nutritional and social support to TB patients. By empowering gram panchayats to monitor and manage cases, Uttarakhand has transformed TB elimination into a people’s movement.
