Attachment of 900 Teachers and Staff Ends in Uttarakhand, Education Director Issues Orders

The Uttarakhand Education Department has canceled the attachments of nearly 900 teachers and staff, except for those attached due to severe illness or at the Vidya Samiksha Kendra. Education Director-General Jharna Kamthan issued the directive following a review ordered by Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat.

The order states that several teachers and employees were attached to schools and offices other than their original postings. In a meeting held on February 8, 2025, the Education Minister instructed that all such attachments be canceled, and the teachers be sent back to their original schools. The directive clarifies that teachers attached in compliance with government orders will not be affected.

Teachers to be Reassigned Based on Need

The Education Directorate will submit a proposal for the reassignment of these teachers and staff to schools and offices where they are needed. This process will require approval from the state government, ensuring that future deployments are made only with official authorization.

Priority-Based Teacher Appointments

The Education Director-General has stated that teacher assignments will be prioritized based on student numbers and existing vacancies. Schools lacking subject teachers despite sufficient student enrollment will receive teachers first. Additionally, schools affected by retirements, transfers, long-term leaves, or other teacher shortages will also be prioritized for staffing.

With this decision, all non-compliant attachments have been revoked, and the concerned directors have been instructed to release these teachers for reassignment. Schools in urgent need of faculty will be prioritized in the redeployment process.
