Uttarakhand witnessed a significant weather change on Saturday, as cold winds and light rain were recorded across hilly and plain areas, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature. The Meteorological Department had earlier predicted rain in higher-altitude regions, which proved accurate.
Light Rain in Several Districts
Since Saturday morning, light showers were observed in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, and Rudraprayag. Overcast skies kept the chill intact throughout the day. Rishikesh, Mussoorie, Chakrata, and Tehri also experienced cloudy weather, causing a further temperature drop. Light drizzles in Jolly Grant and Vikasnagar intensified the cold.
Snowfall Alert for Higher Regions
Early indications of light snowfall were reported in Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath. According to the Meteorological Department, higher-altitude areas may experience snowfall in the next 24 hours, further lowering temperatures. Authorities have advised tourists and locals to remain cautious.
Cold Grips the Plains
In the plains, including Dehradun, Haridwar, and Udham Singh Nagar, mornings and evenings have turned colder. Many people were seen wearing warm clothes due to cold winds. Weather experts predict a further temperature drop in the coming days.
