A tragic incident occurred in Bajpur, Uttarakhand, on Sunday when an 11-year-old boy drowned after slipping into the swollen Levada River. The child, identified as Yash from Khamariya village, had gone with friends to watch the rising waters caused by heavy rainfall in the hills.

According to reports, Yash and his friends were near Beria Daulat Road when the mishap happened. While observing the flooded river, Yash slipped and was swept away by the strong current. His friends raised an alarm, following which nearby locals rushed to the scene and began searching for him.

After intensive efforts, the boy’s body was eventually recovered, bringing deep grief to his family and the local community. The incident has once again raised concerns over safety near rivers during monsoon season, especially among children drawn to flooded areas out of curiosity.

Authorities have urged residents to stay away from riverbanks and avoid venturing near water bodies during heavy rains, particularly in flood-prone zones like Bajpur.
