180 teachers relieved from exam duty after boycott over promotions, transfers

In Uttarakhand, all 180 teachers assigned to evaluate answer sheets of the board’s improvement examination have been relieved from duty after they continued their boycott for the fourth day. The teachers, protesting under the Rajkiya Shikshak Sangh, are demanding timely promotions and transfers, alleging long delays. They have also been on a chalk-down strike since August 18.

Provincial General Secretary Ramesh Panyuli and divisional president Shyam Singh Sariyal said that teachers are angry over the administration’s negligence. Examination Deputy Controller Premlata Baudai issued orders relieving all teachers from evaluation work. District president Kuldeep Kandari and district secretary Arjun Pawar stated that teachers will not be intimidated by any action and will continue the agitation until their demands are met.
