Dehradun, 3 Nov: The annual Gorkha Dashain-Diwali Festival and State Fair 2025 concluded on Sunday with a grand, vibrant evening of cultural performances. The festival was held to promote the culture of the Gorkha community and foster mutual respect in society. With the primary objective of fostering harmony, this grand event organised by the Veer Gorkha Kalyan Samiti has also sent many positive messages to everyone.
Even at the closing ceremony of the Gorkha Dashain Diwali festival, the captivating cultural presentations were a delightful addition, leaving no stone unturned. The closing ceremony was attended by Delhi Police Commissioner Atul Katiyar, Veer Gorkha Kalyan Samiti patron Meg Bahadur Thapa, Major BP Thapa, and Major Amar Rai, Gorkhali Sudhar Sabha President Padam Singh Thapa, Veer Gorkha Kalyan Samiti’s chief patron, Lieutenant General Ram Singh Pradhan, Veer Gorkha Kalyan Samiti President Kamal Thapa, Senior Vice President Urmila Tamang, Vice President Surya Bikram Shahi, General Secretary Vishal Thapa, Treasurer/Media Incharge Teku Thapa, Secretary Devin Shahi, Co-Secretary Ashu Thapa, Cultural Secretary Dev Kala Diwan, Co-Cultural Secretary Karmita Thapa, Organisation Minister Lokesh Ban, Sonu Gurung, members Puran Bahadur Thapa, Yamu Rana, Sona Shahi, and Jyoti Rana. Babita Gurung, NB Thapa, Budhesh Rai, and Meen Gurung were present.
State Minister of Soldiers’ Welfare Ganesh Joshi stated that festivals are the carriers of culture. Therefore, every festival should be celebrated together. He added that Gorkhas are brave in their own right. Joshi added that the Gorkha community has always showered him with their love and affection, which is a matter of pride and good fortune. Joshi also stated that he has won the Mussoorie Assembly constituency three times, and all three times the Gorkha community has showered him with their unwavering trust and love. He also announced a donation of Rs 2 lakh to the Gorkha Welfare Committee. Joshi also stated that the state government has always worked for the welfare of the soldiers and the Gorkha community and will continue to do so.
At the closing ceremony of the fair, General Secretary of the Veer Gorkha Welfare Committee, Vishal Thapa, thanked the Uttarakhand administration, the Electricity Department, the Fire Department, and all administrative officials for their cooperation in making the event a success. He stated that theirs is a campaign to preserve culture, customs, clothing, language, and food, and that they want future generations to carry these traditions with them. Teku Thapa, Treasurer and Media Incharge of the Veer Gorkha Kalyan Samiti, thanked all the participating artists, sponsors, committee members, volunteers, and all the partners for their support in making the festival a success.
On the third and final day of the Gorkha Dashain Diwali Festival 2025, several captivating performances were held. The main focus was a women’s dance presented by the Veer Gorkha Kalyan Samiti to the song “Deuralilai Phool Pati Dhaja”. The female performers included Yamu Gurung, Ashu Thapa Magar, Babita Gurung, Anita Gurung, Sabita Gurung, Chhaya Thapa, Kanchi Maya Thamang, and Lakshmi Gurung. Additionally, during the cultural evening, the song “Talwaron Pe Sar Vaar Diya, Ye Tiranga Sajaaja” performed by Nritya Pratibha Dance Academy in celebration of the success of Operation Sindoor won everyone’s hearts. The Khukri dance also captivated the audience. The Kauda dance, presented by the Veer Gorkha Kalyan Samiti, was also well-received. The performance captivated the audience.
