Under the State-Level Sports Meet organized by the Department of Youth Welfare and Provincial Guard Corps, exceptional performances were witnessed on Tuesday in the Under-17 category competitions. Teams from Chamoli, Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar, Almora, and Champawat showcased remarkable skills in volleyball, securing impressive victories.
In the 1500-meter athletics race, Adarsh Yadav from Dehradun secured the first position, followed by Dheeraj Singh from Udham Singh Nagar and Himanshu from Haridwar in second and third places, respectively. In the 800-meter race, Nitin from Haridwar claimed the top spot, with Dheeraj Singh from Udham Singh Nagar finishing second and Ankit Nath from Champawat taking third.
In volleyball, Chamoli defeated Nainital 2-0 in the opening match. Udham Singh Nagar triumphed over Pithoragarh, Haridwar defeated Bageshwar, Almora overcame Pauri, and Champawat outperformed Rudraprayag.
Football matches saw Champawat edging past Nainital 2-1, Pauri defeating Tehri 2-1, Udham Singh Nagar dominating Bageshwar 4-0, and Pithoragarh routing Rudraprayag 5-1.
In hockey, teams from Haridwar, Almora, and Pauri secured spots in the quarter-finals. In handball, Udham Singh Nagar defeated Almora 26-14, Bageshwar won against Champawat 19-15, and Nainital outperformed Tehri 26-18.
