Governor Gurmit Singh honoured officials and personnel of Dehradun for their exemplary work during disaster response operations at a समारोह held at Raj Bhavan. He appreciated their dedication and described their efforts as a model of commitment and coordination during emergencies.

The recognition relates to the heavy rainfall and cloudburst incident that occurred on the night of September 15–16, 2025, in the Sahastradhara–Karligad region, which triggered flood-like conditions. Following the incident, district administration teams carried out rescue and relief operations, where several officials played key roles.

Among those honoured were Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, Additional District Magistrate Krishna Kumar Mishra, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Har Giri, Judicial Additional SDM Kumkum Joshi, Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Aswal, Senior Medical Officer Dr M A Bhatt, and other staff including Indresh Kothari, Aman, and Pradeep Shahi.

The Governor also commended District Magistrate Savin Bansal for his leadership during the crisis, stating that effective coordination and timely decision-making played a crucial role in managing the situation.

He emphasised the importance of preparedness in disaster management and noted that coordinated efforts by administrative officials, security personnel, and frontline workers are critical in minimising damage during such events.

While the recognition highlights administrative efficiency during the incident, it also underlines the recurring vulnerability of certain regions to extreme weather events, pointing to the need for stronger preventive infrastructure and early warning systems.
