Kedarnath Dham Doors to Open on April 22

Rudraprayag – The doors of the world-famous Kedarnath Dham will open for devotees on April 22 with traditional Vedic rituals and ceremonies, marking the official start of the Char Dham pilgrimage.

According to the announced schedule, the ceremonial idol (Utsav Doli) of Lord Kedarnath will begin its journey from its winter seat at Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath on April 19. Prior to this, rituals will commence on April 18 with the Bhairavnath ceremony after the evening aarti, following traditional customs.

The Doli will reach Phata on April 19 for night halt. On April 20, it will proceed to Gaurikund, halting at the sacred Gaurimai Temple. On April 21, the Doli will depart from Gaurikund and reach Kedarnath Dham, where it will be placed inside the temple premises.

On April 22 at 8 AM, the temple doors will open at an auspicious time amid Vedic chants and rituals, allowing devotees to begin darshan. With this, the Kedarnath pilgrimage will officially begin. The district administration has urged all pilgrims to complete mandatory registration before travel and strictly follow official guidelines to ensure a safe, smooth, and well-managed pilgrimage.
