Rishikesh: Noida Youth Swept Away While Bathing at Sai Ghat, SDRF Launches Search Operation

Rishikesh – A 20-year-old tourist from Noida went missing after being swept away by the strong current of the Ganga while bathing at Sai Ghat in the Muni Ki Reti-Tapovan area on Monday. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has launched a search operation to trace the missing youth.

According to SDRF Inspector Kavindra Sajwan, the team reached the spot with rescue equipment immediately after receiving information from the local police, eyewitnesses and the victim’s companions.

Officials said a group of seven young men had travelled from the Delhi-NCR region to Rishikesh for a leisure trip. The group visited Sai Ghat for a bath in the Ganga when the incident occurred.

The missing youth has been identified as Shaurya Nagar (20), son of Kishanpal and a resident of Bisrakh Jalalpur in Gautam Buddh Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh.

During the bath, Shaurya reportedly attempted to swim in the river but was caught in the strong current and deep water. Within moments, he was swept away and disappeared from sight.

SDRF personnel are carrying out an intensive search operation at Sai Ghat and nearby stretches of the river. Officials said the search will continue until the missing youth is located.
