Tourists Narrowly Escape as Car Plunges into Sarita Tal Lake Near Nainital

Nainital – Four tourists had a narrow escape after their car lost control and plunged into Sarita Tal Lake on the Kaladhungi Road near Nainital on Monday evening.

According to local residents, the car was travelling from Nainital towards Moradabad when the driver reportedly lost control near Sarita Tal. The vehicle veered off the road, rolled down the slope and landed in the lake.

The car, bearing registration number UP-21-CC-1213, was carrying Alam from Moradabad and Umer from Bulandshahr along with two women. All four had visited Nainital for sightseeing.

Local resident Abhay Bawadi said some occupants managed to come out of the vehicle on their own, while two others were rescued safely with the help of nearby residents.

Police reached the spot after receiving information about the accident. However, by the time officers arrived, the tourists had already left the scene.

Mangoli Outpost In-charge Radhika Bhandari said all four occupants were safe and no injuries were reported. Police are supervising efforts to retrieve the submerged vehicle from the lake.
