Uttarakhand: Polyhouse Scheme Rates Finalized, Farmers to Benefit Soon

The long-awaited Polyhouse Scheme in Uttarakhand has moved forward as the committee led by PWD Chief Engineer Deepak Kumar Yadav has finalized the rates for polyhouse construction and transportation. The Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department had assigned this responsibility to the committee.

Under the scheme, the government aims to establish 50,000 polyhouses over the next three years. These polyhouses will help farmers increase the production of vegetables, fruits, and flowers, boosting their incomes.

Financial assistance for the scheme will be provided through loans from NABARD’s Rural Infrastructure Development Fund. Farmers will also receive horticulture-related training. The project had been delayed for a year due to the absence of finalized Schedule of Rates (SOR). With the rates now set, farmers are expected to start benefiting from the scheme early next year.
