The Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) has taken strict action in the high-profile paper leak case by dismissing Assistant Professor Ashish Kumar Gupta from service after he was found guilty in the investigation. The university has also initiated the process of filing an FIR against him.
Shivalik College of Engineering Director Prof. T.S. Sidhu said that immediately after the allegations surfaced, the faculty member was served a show-cause notice and his annual increment was withheld. Following a joint inquiry conducted by the college and the university, the allegations were found to be substantiated, leading to the termination of his services with immediate effect.
Prof. Sidhu said the institution maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any compromise in the confidentiality and integrity of the examination system.
UTU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Tripta Thakur said the university is obtaining legal opinion before proceeding with criminal action. She confirmed that an FIR will be lodged against the accused and that he has been barred from participating in all university examination-related activities for the next seven years.
The investigation revealed that the accused allegedly shared the question papers for Machine Learning for Internet of Things and Electromagnetic Field Theory with students before the examinations through the university’s internal portal and WhatsApp.
Following the findings, the university cancelled both examinations and announced that they will be conducted again in the third week of August.
The university administration stated that the investigation is continuing and assured that strict and impartial action will be taken against anyone found involved in the paper leak.
