Dehradun: Three more MBBS seats have been cancelled in Uttarakhand NEET UG state counselling after discrepancies were found in certificates submitted by candidates. The action was taken by Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University (HNBUMU).
Of the three cancelled seats, two were allotted at Government Medical College Haridwar and one at Government Medical College Srinagar. With the latest action, the number of MBBS seats cancelled over certificate-related irregularities has reached 19.
According to the university, seats were allotted during the first and second rounds of counselling based on candidates’ merit, their submitted choices and claims related to domicile and reservation categories.
After discrepancies were found in some certificates, the documents are being verified through the respective district administrations. Based on a verification report received from the Udham Singh Nagar District Magistrate, the university cancelled the seat allotments of three candidates.
The three candidates had received seats under different categories. Jumrah Ashraf was allotted an OBC women category seat at Government Medical College Haridwar. Aditya Prajapati had been allotted an OBC women category seat at Government Medical College Srinagar, while Varun Dedha had received a seat at Government Medical College Haridwar under the UR-orphan category.
The university has clarified that following cancellation, the concerned candidates will have no further claim over the respective seats.
Officials said verification of domicile and reservation-related certificates is continuing through district magistrates. Lists of candidates whose documents are found to have discrepancies will be uploaded on the counselling portal from time to time after verification reports are received.
The three cancelled seats will now be included in the third round of NEET UG state counselling. The university is continuing the verification process to determine whether further action is required in other cases.
