Dehradun: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested two more people in a case involving alleged MBBS admissions based on forged documents in Dehradun. The latest arrests take the total number of people arrested in the case to five.
The two accused have been identified as Sanjay Kumar and Girish Singh. According to the SIT, they allegedly helped prepare forged documents for three candidates and facilitated their admission to a medical college in exchange for illegal payments.
The case came to light after FIRs were registered on September 13 at Raipur and Clement Town police stations over online applications for Freedom Fighter Dependent certificates allegedly submitted using forged documents.
During the investigation, documents submitted by the candidates were found to be forged. Given the seriousness of the case, Dehradun SSP constituted an SIT under SP Rural-1 Jaya Baloni to investigate the matter.
The SIT took custody of relevant documents and collected records from the educational institutions involved. During verification, addresses mentioned in the candidates’ documents were found to be incorrect. Records obtained from the educational institutions helped investigators establish the candidates’ actual addresses, leading to further investigation.
Based on the evidence collected during the investigation, SIT officials brought Sanjay Kumar and Girish Singh to Raipur police station for questioning. They were subsequently arrested after questioning and examination of the available evidence.
Police allege that the two accused helped arrange forged Aadhaar cards, domicile certificates and Freedom Fighter Dependent certificates for candidates identified as Swati, Pari and Khushi. The SIT alleges that the accused received illegal payments in return for their assistance.
Before the latest arrests, the SIT had arrested Rupesh Pandit, Arvind Kumar and Dheeraj Kumar Srivastava in connection with the case.
The investigation is continuing. The SIT is examining other aspects of the alleged admission racket and investigating the possible involvement of additional suspects.
