Uttarakhand witnessed its largest forest fire incident, taking 11 days to extinguish, as noted in the Forest Survey of India’s India State of Forest Report 2023. This event ranks among the most severe forest fires recorded across the country.
The report highlights 10 states that experienced significant forest fires during the 2023-2024 fire season, documenting incidents lasting from 24 hours to 15 days. According to the findings, Uttarakhand topped the list with forest fires ranging from 24 hours to 11 days. Odisha and Andhra Pradesh ranked second and third, respectively.
