Strict Action Against Bribing Voters in Uttarakhand Municipal Elections, Special Teams Formed

The State Election Commission of Uttarakhand has taken a firm stance against attempts to bribe voters with cash, alcohol, or other incentives during municipal elections. Special teams have been formed across all districts and municipal areas to monitor such activities and take immediate action.

State Election Commissioner Sushil Kumar stated that expenditure monitoring observers and local officials at the district level will be appointed as nodal officers to oversee candidates’ expenses. Additionally, one officer each from the police and excise departments will serve as state-level nodal officers. At the district level, three-member teams will monitor expenditures, with authority to conduct seizures and initiate legal action.

Toll-Free Complaint Number

The commission has launched a toll-free complaint number, 18001804280, for reporting violations. District-level helpline numbers will also be issued to assist voters. These teams will ensure adherence to election rules and take action under the Indian Penal Code and the Election Commission’s guidelines.
