Nadda Hits Back at Congress Over Manmohan Singh Funeral Row

BJP President JP Nadda sharply responded to Congress and Rahul Gandhi’s allegations regarding the funeral arrangements of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Nadda stated that the central government had allocated a site for Singh’s memorial, and his family was duly informed about it.

Accusing Congress of politicizing Singh’s demise, Nadda remarked that the party never accorded due respect to Manmohan Singh during his lifetime but is now using his name for political gains.

Earlier, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge had accused the BJP of disrespecting Singh. Rahul Gandhi labeled the decision to hold Singh’s funeral at Nigambodh Ghat as an insult to the Sikh community and a great son of India.

In his rebuttal, Nadda criticized Congress for failing to honor Singh during his tenure. He referred to the “super prime minister” controversy, alleging that Sonia Gandhi had undermined the Prime Minister’s position. Nadda also cited the infamous incident where Rahul Gandhi publicly tore an ordinance, terming it a direct insult to Singh.

Nadda emphasized that the central government had taken all necessary steps to honor Manmohan Singh, while accusing Congress of spreading lies and engaging in politics. He pointed out Congress’s history of neglecting its own leaders, citing examples like B.R. Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and P.V. Narasimha Rao.
