Dehradun: Uttarakhand Congress Vice President Mathura Datt Joshi has resigned from the party and decided to join the BJP. He will formally join the BJP today at the party headquarters in the presence of State President Mahendra Bhatt and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with hundreds of his supporters.
Mathura Datt Joshi’s dissatisfaction stemmed from his wife not receiving a mayoral ticket for Pithoragarh Municipal Corporation, which led to his open rebellion against Congress. His exit marks a growing dissent within the Congress, especially after controversies over ticket allocation in the local body elections.
Despite efforts by State Congress President Karan Mahara to address the discontent among party workers, the dissatisfaction has only escalated. Discontent in districts like Pithoragarh and Dehradun remains a significant challenge for the Congress leadership.
