Ramesh Bidhuri Apologizes After Controversial Remark on Priyanka Gandhi

New Delhi: BJP’s Kalka Ji assembly candidate, Ramesh Bidhuri, issued an apology following backlash over a controversial statement about Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Bidhuri clarified that his comment was taken out of context and expressed regret if it offended anyone.

During an election rally, Bidhuri made a remark about Priyanka Gandhi concerning road construction, which was criticized as misogynistic and insensitive by Congress leaders. Pawan Khera and Supriya Shrinate condemned the comment, with Khera calling it a reflection of BJP’s mindset and Shrinate terming it derogatory towards women.

Responding to the criticism, Bidhuri accused Congress of hypocrisy, citing an old comment by RJD leader Lalu Yadav about Hema Malini and questioning why Congress did not demand an apology in that instance. He also criticized Khera for his previous remarks, highlighting what he called a double standard in political discourse.

This controversy has added a sharp edge to the ongoing election campaigns, intensifying the political tussle between BJP and Congress.
