Arvind Kejriwal Urges PM Modi to Include Delhi’s Jats in OBC List

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding the inclusion of Delhi’s Jat community in the Central OBC list. He accused the central government of reneging on its promises, leading to injustice for Delhi’s Jat and other OBC communities.

Kejriwal Highlights Unfulfilled Promises

In his letter, Kejriwal pointed out that in 2015, PM Modi promised Delhi’s Jat community their inclusion in the OBC list. Despite reiterations by central leaders in 2017 and 2019, no action has been taken. Kejriwal noted that while Jats from Rajasthan benefit from OBC reservations in institutions like Delhi University, those from Delhi are denied this privilege.

Call for Broader Inclusion

Kejriwal also cited other communities, including Rawat, Rauniyar, Rai Tanwar, Charan, and Od, which are recognized as OBCs by the Delhi government but remain excluded from Central OBC benefits. He urged the central government to rectify these discrepancies and extend OBC reservations to all communities recognized by Delhi’s OBC list in institutions like AIIMS, DDA, and Delhi University.
