Subhash Rana, a resident of Chilamu village in Nainbagh, Uttarakhand, has been honored with the prestigious Dronacharya Award by President Droupadi Murmu. Recognized for his exceptional contribution to para-shooting, Rana’s achievement has brought pride and joy across the state. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Sports Minister Rekha Arya, and other prominent figures extended their congratulations for this historic honor.
Rana has coached India’s para-shooting team, which secured five medals in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, elevating India’s stature globally. His illustrious career includes coaching athletes to win four international golds and two silver medals. Rana himself competed in the World Shooting Championships in Italy (1994) and Spain (1998).
Sports Minister Rekha Arya praised Rana’s role in shaping para-athletes and honing their potential, leading to international triumphs. This award is not just a personal achievement for Rana but a moment of pride for Uttarakhand.
