Ahead of implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), a statewide mock drill will be conducted on January 21 via the UCC web portal. The exercise will involve registrars, sub-registrars, and other officials, who will practice registering services like marriage, divorce, and wills on the portal. The objective is to identify and resolve technical glitches to make the platform user-friendly for the public.
On January 20, the state cabinet meeting will review the draft UCC rules. Once approved and notified, UCC will be implemented. Prior to this, a series of special training programs were held across the state from January 9, targeting block- and district-level officials to familiarize them with the portal’s usage. The final training session will conclude on January 20.
Ajay Mishra, State Commissioner and UCC Nodal Officer, stated that the live mock drill will test the government’s and training teams’ preparedness. The initiative has generated significant enthusiasm across the state, indicating strong interest in the UCC web portal.
