Rudraprayag, September 27, 2024 – The Dhami government has announced two significant healthcare upgrades for the residents of Rudraprayag. According to Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, Ukhimath Primary Health Center (PHC) will be upgraded to a Community Health Center (CHC), while Makkumath Health Sub-Center will now be converted into a PHC. These developments are part of a broader initiative under the guidance of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat. Dr. Rajesh Kumar confirmed that a government order regarding these upgrades would soon be issued.
Currently on a two-day visit to Rudraprayag, Dr. Kumar, who also serves as the district’s in-charge secretary, inspected the Ukhimath PHC and Makkumath Health Sub-Center. He instructed the medical staff at these centers to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment for patients. The upgrades are already progressing swiftly, he noted. Despite Makkumath’s lower population not meeting typical criteria for a PHC, it will be upgraded to improve healthcare access for local residents based on the directives of the Chief Minister and Health Minister.
In addition to healthcare inspections, Dr. Kumar also reviewed ongoing disaster recovery and development work in Sonprayag and Sitapur, where heavy rainfall and landslides in July caused significant damage. He urged officials from various departments to coordinate and accelerate the work. He assured that the Kedarnath pilgrimage is back on track with the alternative pedestrian route deemed safe. The damaged routes and flood protection work along the Son river are expected to be completed in the next few weeks.
