National Games Conclude: Uttarakhand’s Uttam Wins Gold in Greco-Roman Wrestling

On the final day of the 38th National Games, Uttarakhand’s wrestler Uttam clinched the gold medal in the 130 kg Greco-Roman wrestling category, bringing pride to the state. In hockey, Karnataka secured the men’s championship title, while Haryana emerged victorious in the women’s category. The winning teams and athletes were honored at the event.

Hockey and Wrestling Finals Held at Vandana Katariya Sports Stadium

The hockey and wrestling events took place at Vandana Katariya Sports Stadium, Roshanabad. In the women’s hockey final, Haryana defeated Madhya Pradesh 4-1, with Mahima Choudhary, Ishika, and Monika scoring for Haryana, while Aishwarya Chavan netted the lone goal for Madhya Pradesh.

In the men’s hockey final, Karnataka triumphed over Uttar Pradesh 3-2 to claim the championship. The women’s bronze medal match saw Jharkhand edge out Maharashtra 2-1, while in the men’s category, Maharashtra defeated Punjab 1-0 to secure third place.

In the 130 kg Greco-Roman wrestling event, Uttarakhand’s Uttam bagged the gold medal, while SSCB’s Prem settled for silver. Maharashtra’s Digvijay and Haryana’s Ankush claimed bronze medals. Several other athletes also secured medals in different wrestling weight categories.

Dignitaries Attend Men’s Hockey Final

The men’s hockey final was inaugurated by Geeta Pushkar Dhami, wife of Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha. The winners were felicitated by Cabinet Ministers Satpal Maharaj and Subodh Uniyal.
