Uttarakhand Government Bans Remote Access Apps to Prevent Cyber Attacks

Dehradun– To enhance cybersecurity in government departments, the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA) has imposed a complete ban on remote desktop access tools across Uttarakhand’s government offices. Additionally, firewall security has been strengthened, and new data protection policies have been implemented to safeguard government websites and sensitive data.

Strict Cybersecurity Measures Implemented

Until now, several government departments were operating their systems using remote access tools like AnyDesk, posing a significant risk of cyberattacks and data breaches. To eliminate this vulnerability, ITDA has now prohibited all government employees from using remote access tools for website operations.

For the first time, a comprehensive firewall policy has been introduced, ensuring strict access control for government websites and data. Each department will now allocate specific access rights to officials based on their roles, preventing unauthorized access.

IT Secretary Nitesh Jha stated that these measures are crucial for safeguarding government data and preventing cyber threats. He emphasized that Uttarakhand’s cybersecurity infrastructure will be significantly strengthened, ensuring long-term protection against potential cyberattacks.
