Western Disturbance to Bring Rain and Snowfall in Uttarakhand

Weather conditions in Uttarakhand remain dry, with bright sunshine in Dehradun and surrounding areas leading to a rise in temperature. However, partial cloud cover persisted in the hilly regions, resulting in light snowfall in Badrinath and other high-altitude areas by evening. The Meteorological Department has predicted that from Tuesday onwards, many parts of the state will experience rain and snowfall.

On Sunday, Dehradun recorded a maximum temperature of 27°C, with warm conditions during the day but persistent cold in the mornings and evenings. In contrast, the hilly areas witnessed cloud cover, and light snow was reported in Badrinath and Hemkund peaks. Some regions also experienced light rainfall.

According to Meteorological Center Director Bikram Singh, a western disturbance is expected to become active on Tuesday, bringing drizzle to the mountainous areas. Thunderstorms with hail are likely on Wednesday, followed by widespread rainfall on February 27 and 28. Snowfall is anticipated at altitudes above 2,800 meters.
