In a significant crackdown, the Vigilance Department in Uttarakhand arrested an Excise Inspector on Sunday in Karnaprayag for accepting a bribe of ₹30,000. This marks the second major action by the Vigilance team in consecutive days.
According to the details, the victim had lodged a complaint, stating that his partner, who operates a sub-outlet of their liquor shop in Chamoli, has been paying the revenue regularly. However, the Excise Inspector, identified as Jaibir, allegedly demanded money by threatening the shop owner, citing issues with the withdrawal pass.
The accused inspector was caught red-handed at his residence while accepting ₹30,000. The Vigilance team immediately arrested him and initiated legal action.
