The Uttarakhand government is set to distribute appointment letters to more than 7,000 Anganwadi workers and assistants across rural areas of the state starting May 20. The Women Empowerment and Child Development Department has already released the provisional selection lists for nearly all districts, with only Haridwar’s list expected within the week.
Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya, during a review meeting held at the Vidhan Sabha auditorium on Friday, directed officials to finalize the selection lists promptly and ensure time-bound resolution of objections. She stated that the appointment letters would be handed over through district-level programmes.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister’s “Jachha-Bachha Shubh Jeevan Yojana” was also reviewed, and Arya instructed that it be approved by the cabinet soon. A proposal was also discussed to revise the “Mukhyamantri Ekal Mahila Swarozgar Yojana” to offer subsidies up to ₹1.5 lakh for single women entrepreneurs.
Additionally, under the Women Welfare Fund Scheme, immediate financial aid ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹25,000 will be provided to women and children during disasters or emergencies. The “Nanda Gaura Yojana” will also be modified to offer ₹51,000 to eligible girls upon completion of graduation or skill development courses.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Chandresh Kumar and other senior officials.
