Parliamentary Sub-Committee on Official Language Reviews Use of Hindi in Uttarakhand

A sub-committee of the Parliamentary Official Language Committee under the Ministry of Home Affairs arrived in Uttarakhand on a three-day visit to review the usage of Hindi as the official language in government offices. On Friday, the members met with Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (Retd.) at Raj Bhavan and briefed him about their visit and objectives.

The sub-committee is led by Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Dinesh Sharma and includes members of Parliament Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Ramchandra Jangra, Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, Satpal Brahmachari, Rajesh Verma, and Kishori Lal. The team is scheduled to hold meetings with various departments to evaluate the progress in the use of Hindi in official communication and administration.

Governor Gurmit Singh welcomed the committee and emphasized that Uttarakhand has deep-rooted cultural and educational ties with Hindi. He stated that the state remains committed to promoting Hindi in government work and public communication.

Also present at the meeting were Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Additional Secretary Swati S. Bhadauria, and Sub-Committee Secretary Prem Narayan.
