Following the recent spurious liquor tragedy in Amritsar, Uttarakhand’s Excise Department has launched a major enforcement drive across key districts. Acting on instructions from Excise Commissioner Harichandra Semwal, a special campaign began on Thursday to tackle the manufacturing, smuggling, storage, transport, and sale of illicit liquor.

The campaign will continue until May 25, focusing on vulnerable areas in the plains of Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Dehradun, and Nainital. Senior officers have been assigned to oversee operations in their respective districts.

Excise teams will inspect suspected sites of illegal liquor production and take strict action to curb the illegal trade of liquor and narcotics. Daily reports of the operations will be submitted to the Excise Headquarters for monitoring and further action.
