Two Garhwal University Students Drown in Alaknanda River, One Rescued

Two B.Tech first-semester students of Garhwal Central University drowned in the Alaknanda River near Srinagar, Uttarakhand, on Wednesday. A third student was rescued in time and is currently stable under medical care.

All three students had gone to the river for a swim during an outing when they were swept away by the strong current. The deceased students were from Meenapur village in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar. Rescue teams and local residents managed to save one student, while the bodies of the other two were later recovered.

Police and district administration reached the site upon receiving the information and sent the bodies for post-mortem. The university community is in mourning following the incident. Authorities have urged students to stay away from riverbanks and remain cautious.
