Former President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Haridwar on a two-day visit along with his family. He reached Harihar Ashram in Kankhal, where he received blessings from Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri of the Juna Akhara.
During an interaction with the media, Kovind praised the recently executed ‘Operation Sindoor’, calling it a symbol of India’s military bravery. He stated that the operation would be remembered for generations and is a matter of pride for every Indian.
On the issue of ‘One Nation, One Election’, Kovind reiterated his strong support, saying it is crucial for the nation’s development. He emphasized that the implementation of simultaneous elections would accelerate economic progress. Referring to economic experts, he mentioned that India, currently the world’s fourth-largest economy, could move up to third place globally with the adoption of this system.
Kovind has been the chairman of the high-level committee formed by the central government to explore the feasibility of implementing ‘One Nation, One Election’.
