Taking swift action on reported negligence, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the suspension of four engineers, including two Executive Engineers, for their role in the collapse of a Bailey bridge under construction in Tharali, Chamoli district.
The 60-meter span Bailey bridge was being built over the Ghatgad Gadhera near Dhadharbagad in Tharali. On June 4, the under-construction structure suffered damage, triggering concern and prompting immediate administrative response.
Public Works Department (PWD) Secretary Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey suspended Dinesh Mohan Gupta, Executive Engineer of PWD Construction Division Tharali, and Naveen Lal, Executive Engineer of the Provincial Division Karnaprayag (with additional charge of Tharali Division). Assistant Engineer Akash Hudiya of Tharali Division was also suspended.
