President Droupadi Murmu has arrived in Dehradun on a three-day visit to Uttarakhand. She was received at Jolly Grant Airport by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Governor Gurmit Singh. Following her arrival, the President proceeded to the city by road amid heightened security.
Ahead of her visit, security around the airport was significantly tightened. Police conducted thorough checks and surveillance in nearby hotels, banks, and other establishments. Combing operations were also carried out in the forest areas surrounding the airport.
A major highlight of the President’s visit will be the official inauguration of the Rashtrapati Ashiana on Rajpur Road on 20 June. For the first time, the historic Rashtrapati Ashiana, spread across 132 acres, will be opened to the public. Within this, a 19.5-acre area known as the Lower Estate has also been developed.
The estate includes a newly built state-of-the-art public park, which is expected to become a green lung for the city. This initiative is seen as a major gift to the people of Dehradun, providing a recreational and eco-friendly space with long-term benefits for the environment and public well-being.
