Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken strict action following the death of a contract lineman due to electrocution while working on an electric line in the Vaddakhal area of Rikhanikhal block, Pauri district. The incident was raised by local MLA Dilip Singh Rawat.
Acting on the CM’s directions, the management of the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has suspended Executive Engineer Vineet Kumar Saxena, Sub-Divisional Officer Chandramohan, and Junior Engineer Shubham Kumar with immediate effect. The CM has also directed officials to initiate strict action against all negligent personnel and to seek an explanation from senior officials involved in the matter.
Emphasizing accountability, CM Dhami stated that such negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He instructed officials to prioritize safety during all electrical operations and ensure the availability of essential safety equipment at work sites.
The CM specifically mandated that during the use of hazardous tools like fire-based or sharp instruments, field workers must be equipped with helmets, gloves, safety belts, and insulated tools. He also demanded a detailed report on the availability and distribution of safety gear across the department.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the safety of every worker, CM Dhami said any form of negligence concerning employee safety is unacceptable and will be dealt with strictly.
