Sridev Suman Uttarakhand University has taken strict action against 17 affiliated colleges across the state for failing to apply for renewal of affiliation over the past several years. The university has immediately halted all admissions and withheld examination results of these institutions. The admission portals of the colleges have also been disabled.
The decision followed a crucial meeting held on 16 June at the university headquarters, where college principals and directors were directed to resolve pending inspection and faculty approval matters within a week. However, university officials said that the 17 institutions failed to act, despite multiple prior meetings and 12 official reminders.
Vice-Chancellor N.K. Joshi confirmed that the institutions repeatedly ignored requests for submitting inspection reports and faculty appointment documents. This non-compliance prompted the university to take firm action to uphold academic integrity.
The matter gained prominence during an RTI hearing before State Information Commissioner Yogesh Bhatt, where the operation of several colleges without valid affiliation was revealed. A detailed media report later exposed the scale of irregularities, leading to the university’s final warning and subsequent crackdown.
