District Magistrate Savin Bansal has taken strict action after a video showing revenue officials gambling at the main gate of Vikasnagar Tehsil went viral on social media. One revenue sub-inspector has been suspended with immediate effect.
The video, which shows officials playing cards and exchanging money at the tehsil premises, was recorded by a local resident from Kulha village in Devghar Khat. He visited the tehsil for personal work and captured the footage on Tuesday. The video quickly gained traction online, drawing widespread criticism.
Following the viral incident, a preliminary inquiry report submitted by the SDM identified Revenue Sub-Inspector Nagchand of the Raigi area as being involved. Based on this, DM Bansal ordered his suspension and attached him to the office of the Tehsildar in Chakrata. The Tehsildar of Tyuni has been assigned to conduct a detailed investigation into the matter.
The incident has sparked concerns about discipline and accountability among government staff. Officials have been instructed to treat the matter with utmost seriousness, and further action is expected following the detailed probe.
