Duplicate Voter Allegations in Panchayat Polls: Complaint Filed with Raj Bhavan

A serious allegation has been raised regarding duplicate voter entries in the Uttarakhand Panchayat elections. Petitioner Shakti Singh Bartwal has approached the Raj Bhavan, accusing the State Election Commission of ignoring the High Court’s directives and facilitating unfair advantages to certain individuals by allowing one person’s name to appear in voter lists of two different constituencies.

Bartwal alleged that the Commission’s functioning appears biased and violates the Uttarakhand Panchayati Raj Acts of 2016 and 2019. He pointed out that the Uttarakhand High Court had clearly ordered strict investigation and action against such dual entries, but the Commission has failed to act accordingly.

Describing dual voter registration as illegal and a betrayal of democratic principles, Bartwal urged the Governor to intervene and ensure immediate corrective action. He warned that if the Commission continues to defy the court’s orders, he would be compelled to file a contempt petition.
