The Uttarakhand Women Empowerment and Child Development Department has issued strict instructions to senior officials to personally inspect and taste food being served at Anganwadi centres. The directive, issued by department director Ranjana Rajguru, aims to combat malnutrition and ensure food quality and hygiene across the state.

Officials from district program officers to supervisors must conduct surprise visits to Anganwadi centres and taste the food being prepared. If any shortcomings are found, they must report it for immediate correction. Otherwise, strict action will be taken.

Rajguru emphasized that the new instructions are meant to directly verify the quality and cleanliness of meals. The order is mandatory for all 13 district-level program officers, 105 block-level child development officers, and 595 supervisors across Uttarakhand.

In addition to food quality, officers are also directed to check the accuracy of weighing machines at each centre, following complaints of incorrect readings at some locations.
