The monsoon session of the Uttarakhand Assembly will commence on August 19 at Bharadisain in the state’s summer capital, Gairsain. The state government is set to present a supplementary budget of approximately ₹5,000 crore to address the financial requirements of various departments. On Friday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a cabinet meeting virtually from Uttarkashi, where he has been overseeing rescue and relief operations in the Dharali disaster-hit area.
The meeting began with tributes to those who lost their lives in recent disasters, followed by the Finance Department’s proposal for the supplementary budget, which was approved after departmental discussions. Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman briefed the cabinet on the ongoing relief and rescue efforts in Dharali and Pauri’s Sainji village.
Cabinet ministers including Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal, Animal Husbandry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna, and Rural Development and Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi participated virtually from Dehradun. The monsoon session will be held from August 19 to 22, with the Assembly Secretariat finalising preparations for the proceedings.
