In disaster-affected Dharali village, Independence Day celebrations reflected a strong spirit of resilience. At the courtyard of the Sameshwar Devta Temple, which survived the Khir Ganga floods, the tricolour was hoisted, symbolising hope and determination to rebuild lives. SDRF IG Arun Mohan Joshi led the flag-hoisting ceremony and assured all possible assistance to the affected families. Tributes were paid to those who lost their lives in the disaster, followed by two minutes of silence in their memory.
In Dharali, Harshil, and Mukhba, the national flag was hoisted at 9 AM, accompanied by the national anthem. Personnel from the police, ITBP, SDRF, NDRF, and other relief teams also participated, alongside local citizens, youth, and elders. Speakers highlighted that while the disaster caused significant material loss, it could not weaken the community’s spirit or patriotism. The celebrations stood as a testament to unity, courage, and perseverance. The event concluded with a pledge to work collectively for the reconstruction of the affected areas and restore prosperity to the region.
