Uttarakhand Weather: Heavy Rainfall to Ease, Light Showers Likely Ahead

After nearly a week of continuous heavy rainfall, the monsoon is expected to weaken in Uttarakhand from today, bringing some relief to residents. According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain is likely across the state, while isolated areas in Pauri, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, and Nainital districts remain under a yellow alert for heavy showers.

The forecast suggests that while sporadic spells of rain may continue till August 21, the overall intensity of the monsoon will gradually reduce as the monsoon trough line shifts. Meteorologist Rohit Thapliyal confirmed that weakening conditions are likely to provide much-needed respite after days of downpour.

On Sunday, heavy morning rain in Dehradun caused waterlogging and muddy roads, disrupting movement for commuters and two-wheeler riders. However, clearer skies in the afternoon brought temporary relief, with maximum temperatures recorded at 28.8°C and minimum at 23.4°C. For today, the maximum temperature is expected to rise to 31°C, with a minimum of around 25°C.
