The spell of heavy rain in Uttarakhand is set to continue as thick cloud cover persists across the state. Intermittent downpours in the hills are causing major disruptions, while conditions remain tough in most lowland regions.
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely on Monday in Dehradun, Tehri, Nainital, Uttarkashi, and Bageshwar, along with thunderstorms and lightning. An orange alert has been issued for these districts. Other parts of the state may also experience intense rainfall with thunder and lightning.
In Dehradun and nearby areas, the morning began with cloud cover, but the sky cleared by noon, bringing humid heat. Later, thick clouds returned, triggering sharp showers by evening and raising chances of rain overnight.
In the hill regions, persistent rain kept conditions unstable. Kalsi, Chakrata, and nearby areas witnessed heavy downpours in the afternoon. Mussoorie recorded light showers throughout the day, while Tharali in Chamoli and surrounding areas saw intense rainfall at night, leaving residents alarmed and restless.
