Mauritius Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam arrived at Dehradun Airport around 2 p.m. today, where he received a warm welcome. He is on a four-day official visit to Uttarakhand and will tour several locations across the state.
Earlier, during bilateral talks in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the close bond between India and Mauritius, describing the two nations as not just partners but family. He highlighted that while the countries are separate, their aspirations remain united.
PM Modi noted the successful launch of UPI and RuPay card services in Mauritius last year and announced that both countries will now work towards trade in local currencies. On the occasion, seven agreements were signed between India and Mauritius.
India also announced a special economic package worth 680 million USD (around ₹6,000 crore) to support Mauritius in strengthening infrastructure, improving healthcare facilities, and creating employment opportunities.
