Kedarnath Ropeway Project: Adani Group to Build 12.9 Km Ropeway, Travel Time Cut to 36 Minutes

Adani Enterprises Limited has been awarded the Kedarnath ropeway project connecting Sonprayag to Kedarnath. The company has received the letter of agreement and will implement the project under the National Ropeway Development Programme, Parvatmala Pariyojana.

The 12.9 km ropeway will reduce the arduous 8–9 hour trek to just 36 minutes, with a carrying capacity of 1,800 passengers per hour in each direction. Once completed, it will serve millions of pilgrims annually. The project will be developed on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, with Adani Enterprises operating it for 29 years after construction, which is expected to take six years.

Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said the project is more than just engineering—it is a bridge between devotion and modern infrastructure. He added that by making the sacred journey faster, safer, and more accessible, the ropeway will honor the faith of millions while creating new opportunities for the people of Uttarakhand.
