Dehradun – The much-awaited MTB Maldevta Second Edition cycling race is set to kick off on 27 and 28 September in Dehradun. A press conference held today at the Dehradun Press Club highlighted the event’s schedule, objectives, and special features.
For the first time, national champions and riders of national level will participate, alongside international athletes including India’s Shiven and Asian rider Rounel. The first day, 27 September, will feature Uttarakhand’s first downhill race, promoting extreme adventure sports in the state. The main race on 28 September at Bikecraft, Maldevta, will see over 300 participants from across the country.
The race includes multiple categories: Under 14, Under 16, Under 18, Under 23, Elite 23–35, Senior 35–50, Grandmaster 50+, and Women’s Open and 45+ categories. A special “Battle of Schools” program aims to encourage schoolchildren to participate and promote cycling among youth.
Chief guests for the event include MLA Umesh Sharma, BJP State Minister Aditya Chauhan, and IPL cricketer Akash Madhwal. Their presence is expected to add grandeur and highlight the importance of cycling.
This year, MTB Maldevta is sponsored by Hartex, with technical support provided by Uttarakhand’s Pahadi Peddlers, while Road Spin Warriors actively support the event. Cultural programs, live bands, folk dances, and Uttarakhandi songs will complement the race, making it a festive experience. Winners will also be honored with the traditional Pahadi Topi.

Organizer Neeraj Bhandari said, “We aim to make cycling a lifestyle, not just a sport. This race provides a platform for new players and strengthens the cycling culture in Dehradun, aligning with our vision to make it the Cycling City of India.”
