Unemployed Youth March to CM Residence on State Foundation Day

On Uttarakhand’s State Foundation Day, hundreds of young unemployed individuals gathered at Gandhi Park in Dehradun, rallying under the banner of the Uttarakhand Unemployed Association to march toward the Chief Minister’s residence. This protest was sparked by the state’s failure to grant an anticipated five-year age relaxation in the upcoming police recruitment, despite prior promises from the government.

The rally drew a significant police presence, as protesters, led by state vice-president Ram Kandwal, voiced their grievances. The association had previously postponed protests, respecting the assurance given by DGP Abhinav Kumar on October 30, who mentioned the government’s efforts to address the age limit issue.

Association President Bobby Panwar declared that a more intense movement would follow if demands remained unmet, emphasizing that this is the first police recruitment in eight years, and many eligible youths are being left out due to the age restriction.
