Dehradun – District Magistrate Savin Bansal has ordered strict action and accountability in the ongoing verification drive for ration and Ayushman cards. In a review meeting held on Thursday, the DM directed the District Supply Officer and Chief Medical Officer to ensure 100% verification at the earliest, emphasizing that ineligible beneficiaries must be removed and genuine ones should promptly receive their entitlements.

Acting on Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s instructions, the DM took a tough stance on fake ration and Ayushman cards, directing officials to complete the verification campaign without delay. He warned that no public funds, ration, or benefits should be misused or diverted. Showing zero tolerance for negligence, he ordered the suspension of salaries of Supply Inspectors, AROs, and ADO Panchayats responsible for delays. If 60% of verification work is not completed by October 30, strict departmental action and adverse entries in service records will follow.

Under the intensified drive, 3,600 ration cards and 10,000 fake Ayushman cards have already been cancelled. The DM stated that only eligible families will continue receiving benefits, while all ineligible cardholders will be removed. He also mentioned that an organized network behind the fake card scam has already been booked under serious criminal charges.

Expressing strong displeasure over the slow pace of verification in Clement Town, Sahaspur, Vikasnagar, Rishikesh, Doiwala, Tyuni, and Kalsi areas, the DM ordered the immediate stoppage of salaries for officials in these regions. He warned that failure to achieve over 60% verification by October 30 would result in pay deductions and disciplinary action.

According to the District Supply Officer, Dehradun has a total of 3,83,352 ration card holders, out of which 1,56,815 cards (40.91%) have been verified. Area-wise progress remains slow — Clement Town (25.40%), Sahaspur (38.07%), Vikasnagar (27.21%), Rishikesh (23.52%), Doiwala (20.99%), Kalsi (38.55%), and Tyuni (8.62%). Meanwhile, 3,617 ineligible cards have been cancelled so far, and e-KYC-based digital verification using Aadhaar is in progress.
