Tanakpur (Champawat), 24 Oct: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today participated in a function at Sharda Ghat in Tanakpur, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for ten development projects amounting to Rs 20.50 crores. During the event, he also announced the plans for establishment of an Agriculture University in Champawat, modelled on the Pantnagar Agriculture University, and the launch of flood relief and protection works in the Chheenigoth area.

Dhami claimed that the new Agriculture University in Champawat would offer the local youth avenues for higher education and research in agriculture and allied sciences. This initiative, he said, would encourage scientific farming practices and provide a distinct identity to the hill agricultural economy. He described both the announcements as historic steps towards strengthening Champawat in the domains of education, agriculture, and disaster resilience.

The CM said that the flood protection measures in Chheenigoth and adjoining regions would safeguard the area from monsoon-related damage and play a crucial role in protecting agricultural land and public assets.

Dhami claimed that the state government is making consistent progress across all sectors. He also mentioned the ongoing works in education, healthcare, agriculture, horticulture, employment generation, and the promotion of self-employment. He noted that development efforts in Champawat have gained momentum, with the district being shaped into a model for the rest of the state.

Among those present on the occasion included Lal Batti holders Shyam Narayan Pandey and Shankar Koranga, District Panchayat President Anand Singh Adhikari, Block Chief Anchala Bohra, BJP District President Govind Samant, District Magistrate Manish Kumar and SP Ajay Ganapati, along with other dignitaries.
